ROYALTY AND FINANCIAL UPDATE

Vancouver, British Columbia, February 28th, 2017. Newport Exploration Ltd ("Newport" or "the Company") is pleased to report that it has received its after tax 2.5% gross overriding petroleum royalty payment for the 3 month period from November 2016 - January 2017.

Gross royalty income for the period was AUD$1,266,920. The payment received by Newport of AUD$886,844 is net of 30% Australian withholding taxes (AUD$380,076) in accordance with an Australian Tax Office ("ATO") ruling disclosed in the Company's November 10, 2015 news release.

Newport has approximately CDN$7.3 million of current assets, comprised of cash, cash equivalents, short term-investments and receivables.

The Company continues to strongly encourage shareholders and potential investors to access information released independently by Beach and Santos Ltd in order to keep current on exploration, development and, potential production of all the licences subject to the Company's gross overriding royalty.
